Project Summary:
As part of our charities aims is to raise the profile behind hate crime in Surrey and the ways we can help our partners in third party reporting and see results to incidents that may well have gone unnoticed, unresolved or never reported due to a lack of confidence Gay Surrey have been working closely with Surrey Police and the community to bring new ways of improving reporting and to create an effective tool to stamp out homophobia
Our micro site called www.stophatenow.org.uk is a new portal for information and reporting which requires funding to keep this alive, from posters to advertising, web maintaining to actual reporting. The cost for this is £3600 for a one year period.
Help us to make Surrey a safer place for our community
Project Title: educate not segregate : stop homophobia in schools
Project Summary:
Bullying in our schools is something the Gay Surrey Team feel passionate about. Bullying comes in all shapes and sizes - from teachers or children bullying a child simply because they may be gay, or perhaps where a child may themselves have LGBT parents.
The scenarios are unfortunately many, and we have heard countless reports from adults who have suffered as children basically because of inadequate school management.
Our Educate not Segregate Project , as part of the Stop Hate Campaign, is to drive a working relationship with Surrey schools to alleviate unnecessary ignorance and put bullying of this nature to the history files. Campaign costs £4000 per year
